On Saturday, July 9th the Thunderbird Music Hall will be hosting SummaLumma DJ Fest with Dj Femi - featuring Wade Anthony, Slim the DJ, Khakuma, Dj Ash B, and ChosenGifted. Starting at 9 pm and lasting until 2 am, concert-goers will have an opportunity to experience some of Pittsburgh’s most talented DJs.
Headlining is the inspiring Pittsburgh Native, Bria Thomas, AKA DJ Femi.
DJ Femi’s ability to break onto the scene as a woman speaks volumes about her talent and skills. Playing a variety of different venues such as concert halls, pop-ups, art galleries, and nightclubs, DJ Femi has a keen sense of understanding the crowd, thus creating a diverse and engaging type of atmosphere for the variety of crowds she performs for.
Now more than ever, the need to support trailblazing women is crucial.
The hope is that SummaLumma will become an annual event that will look to host a plethora of DJs from around the US. Organizers of the event have also stressed that this will be a safe space and that no "aggressive or non-consensual behavior" will be tolerated during the event.
According to CityPaper - Chosengifted comes from Baltimore, Md., and DJ Ash B is described on her website as a Bakersfield, Calif. native who has been "DJing up and down the United States for over 3 years."
